AyaWaken began with a simple intention: to bridge the Amazon and the United States, building a community where we can reconnect with the divine within and around us, Mother Earth and our true nature.
Together, Mark and Chloe hold prayer-led ceremony weekends near Dallas, Texas. Our work brings together continuing study in the Shipibo tradition, thoughtful preparation and support for carrying your experience into everyday life.
Choosing where to sit in ceremony is personal. We welcome the opportunity to meet you, hear your questions and help you understand our approach.
Understanding the medicine before ceremony
We believe preparation begins with understanding.
Teaching is central to Mark’s work. Before ceremony, he explains the medicine, how we hold ceremony and how to prepare.
You can ask questions and talk through what to expect, so you arrive informed and grounded.
Individual screening, preparation and integration are part of the path we share with our community.

Lead Minister
Mark leads AyaWaken’s ceremonies every other week, bringing his study, practice and prayer into the space.
His work is rooted in direct relationships with Shipibo teachers in Peru. He apprenticed with Maestro Gaspar Rengifo and continues to study with Maestro Domer Hoyos. He continues to learn through these relationships.
That path has included extended periods in isolation in the Peruvian jungle, away from his family. Those sacrifices became a source of strength and deepened his commitment to this work.
Mark learned icaros—ceremonial songs—in the Shipibo language. Some were passed down through his teachers; others, he describes receiving directly from the plants during traditional plant dietas.
He continues to travel to Peru multiple times each year and has welcomed Shipibo teachers into his family home in the United States to live with his family and hold ceremonies.
For Mark, the learning never stops. His ongoing relationships with his teachers continue to shape how he teaches, holds ceremony and serves the AyaWaken community.

Chloe Lorello
Co-Minister
Chloe works alongside Mark in ceremony and supports the AyaWaken community. She also speaks with prospective guests, helping them get to know us and understand their next steps.
She has learned directly from Mark and participated in plant dietas in the Shipibo tradition in Pucallpa, Peru. A continuing student of the medicine, Chloe is always striving to deepen her understanding and better herself.
At the heart of her approach is a simple belief: what matters deeply is how we change our lives afterward. She encourages participants to carry what they learn in ceremony into their relationships, choices and everyday living.
Carrying ceremony into everyday life
Our time together includes integration after each ceremony, a Saturday workshop and a follow-up call approximately one week later.
These conversations offer space to reflect on your experience and consider how to bring meaningful insights into daily life.
