If you are considering your first weekend with AyaWaken, understanding the practical steps can help you ask informed questions. This overview describes our prayer-led gatherings near Dallas, Texas. It is not a promise of what you will experience.
Before you arrive
The first step is the intake. Share your health history, medications and intentions so we understand your situation.
If you’re accepted, you’ll get an email with booking instructions. If we need more information, we’ll invite you to a phone call first.
You can attend only after you’re accepted and your booking is confirmed.
Once you’re accepted, reply to your booking email with your preferred dates and option. We confirm availability and send payment instructions. Please don’t pay before your date is confirmed.
Your booking email includes preparation, arrival and location details. Read our preparation overview.
Two evenings of ceremony
Our Texas weekends include Friday and Saturday ceremonies held in prayer. The ministry’s ongoing study with Shipibo teachers in Peru informs the way the gatherings are held. Meet our teachers.
We approach ceremony as a sacrament and spiritual practice, with respect for the space and the people present. A quiet, guided environment leaves room for personal reflection. Experiences vary; descriptions of another person’s experience do not predict yours.
Time for rest and reflection
Between ceremonies there’s time for rest, community and integration. The full retreat includes shared lodging and meals. If you choose ceremonies only, you arrange your own lodging and a ride after each ceremony.
No ride? Ask about sleeping on a mat in the ceremony space for $100 per person, per night, with no meals. You leave the next morning. Please arrange this ahead of time.
Integration after ceremony
We hold integration after each ceremony. Maria Lopez of The Soul’s Nurse, an independent integration specialist, leads the Saturday workshop.
She also hosts a follow-up call about a week later, so you can reflect and ask questions. Please confirm the plans for your weekend with our team.

Plan your next steps
Review the current ceremony dates and participant-screening information before making travel plans. Do not stop or change prescribed medication without consulting your prescribing clinician.
